MPC was established in 21 Jan 1995 for implementation of 7th olefin. Implementation of this Project with annual production capacity of 11 million tons poly ethylene as one of greatest olefins Plant in world lead to for the first time in Iran C2+ (ethane) has been extracted from natural gas and transform to olefin compounds, polymeric and chemical products.

Marun Petrochemical Complex situated in two regions with total area of 102.5 hectares
1- Ahwaz Curait camp Region

Ethane recovery unit located in 15th km of Ahwaz Mahshahr road olefin Plant feed Product here and transfer to Petrochemical Special economic zone via 95 km pipeline.

2- Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Olefin Plant With other unites such as heavy poly ethylene, poly propylene, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol in site 2 of Imam Khomeini port Petrochemical special economic zone with total area of 93 Hectors
