Clinical pharmacology:
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with a bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria like Campylobacter, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Treponema spp. Gentamicin sulphate belongs to the group of aminoglycosides and acts bactericidal against mainly Gram-negative bacteria like E.coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella and Salmonella spp. The bactericidal action is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
Indications
Gentyl 510 is used in cattle, sheep, goats, swine, cats and dogs for treating infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to gentamicin and tylosin. It is particularly used in chronic respiratory diseases (CRD), pneumonia, pleuritis, pasteurellosis, enteritis, gastroenteritis, salmonellosis, and diarrhea of piglets, metritis and mastitis.
Contra-indications.
Hypersensitivity to Tylosin and/or Gentamicin
Concurrent administration of penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones, cycloserine and nephrotoxic substances
Administration to animals with an active microbial digestion or a serious impaired hepatic and/or renal function
Side effects:
Hypersensitivity reactions
Diarrhoea, epigastric pain and skin sensitization can occur
High and prolonged application may result in neurotoxicity, ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity
After intramuscular administration local reactions can occur which disappear in a few days.

For intramuscular administration:
Cattle: 1 ml per 25 – 30 kg body weight
Swine, goats and sheep: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight
Cats and dogs: 1 ml per 15 kg body weight
Notice: The treatment should be continued for 3-4 days
Withdrawal times:
For meat: 7 days
For milk: 3 days
Packaging:
Vials of 20, 50, 100, 250 ml.
Storage:
Store in cool, dry place, at room temperature (≤ 30 OC).
Keep away from direct sunlight.
