Catalyzed ABS is used where the result is expected very fast compare to normal Ammonium bisulphite. The USB of this product is that as it has a metal catalyst in it, the reaction time is very less and thus the O2 scavenging time is also less. This saves a lot of process time to remove O2 from the system. Generally, to reduce 1 ppm of dissolved oxygen in water with retention of 5 mints the ABS used will be 9.5ppm Max but due to its catalyzed property it will take less time.
Cobalt Catalyzed Ammonium bi sulphite is red colored clear solution widely used in oil and gas industry as an oxygen scavenger and/or corrosion inhibitor. Its function is to remove oxygen to prevent corrosion and finer.
