The Espandar Group is not only the first private sector group in Iran`s cement industry but also a successful joint venture between Iranian and foreign investors. Such a scenario faces many challenges: First, to align the corporate cultures of shareholders and management of different nationalities, and second, to successfully position a private sector group in an industrial sector which is still dominated by government players. During the past years, Espandar has mastered these challenges well. A management style has been introduced which combines Iranian tradition with Western management methods to lead the Group to produce high-quality products recognized in the market under its very own Espandar brand. Management`s focus has been on the development of human resources programs to encourage workers and staff to become responsible corporate members, achieving a life balance between work and family. The recognition of skills and their sustainable development shall offer job satisfaction and ensure talent at each and every level of the Espandar organization. Motivated workers and staff are the key and ingredients for Espandar`s long-term competitive advantage. Investment in people is valued equally as much as investment in technology or production facilities. Safety at the workplace to protect the life and integrity of our workers and staff, our contractors as well as visitors to our plant and offices is a pillar of Espandar`s corporate policy. Our commitment to the ”Zero Harm to People” principle tolerates no compromises. Occupational health and safety programs shall contribute to improving the awareness of workers and staff and to making working conditions safe and secure. But corporate responsibility does not end at the plant gate or office door but includes families of workers and staff, communities and the environment in which our industrial plants operate. Alternative fuel programs introduced in the Espandar Group shall not only contribute to saving valuable energy resources but the burning of household and industrial waste in our cement kilns shall become a valuable solution toward keeping the country clean and tidy. Beside the human factor, products are at the heart of Espandar`s activities. In the recent past, cement has increasingly become a preferred building material replacing traditional mediums such as clay or wood. It is based on the natural product stone, and if cement is sometimes regarded with suspicion, we at Espandar feel “it is not concrete/cement that is the problem, but what mankind makes out of it!” To improve the application of cement – in terms of both quantity and quality – Espandar strives to offer our customers the best possible service and advice to assist them in making the best and most efficient use of the product. The sincere thanks of Espandar`s board of directors and management go to our workers and staff for their continuing loyalty, enthusiasm and extraordinary performance, to the communities which are the host to our cement plants for supporting our industrial activities, and last but not least to our customers whose loyalty to our Espandar brand cannot be valued too highly.
