At the same time with entering of the first steel making technology into Iran from ex-USSR in 1967, and with regard to the urgent need for inspection and amendment of the designs received from the above-mentioned country, a so called ESCO Designing Bureau was established beside Esfahan Steel Plant.
The aim of establishing this bureau was firstly to amend the drawings received from USSR at the site, and secondly to conduct direct inspection on erection and commissioning process of Esfahan Steel Plant. However, the ultimate goal aimed by the executives, was to extablish a designing institute capable of working out basic as well as detail of an over all steel plant through local experts.
This goal was not achieved until 1981 when the said designing Bureau, with a view to modify the former procedures and reach the final goal, changed its name to ‘ Designing Institute’ yet due to the problems associated with governmental organization, this goal could not be fulfilled.
Finally, by commencement of a new horizon under privatization in Esfahan Steel company in the year 1991, as requested by some personnel of the institute, and upon the agreement made by ESCO’s managing director of that time the Designing Institute was dissolved and ‘ Foolad technic International Engineering Company began to work with association of 70% private share holders.
As mentioned in section ‘ Performed Activities’ during the period from 1991 up to now, the company not only achieved the set goals, but also was able to take further steps and by implementing turnkey projects(E.P.C.) could abtain appropriate grade from Management and planning organization.
Designing, purchase, construction, erection and commissioning of modernization system for Blast Further No. 2 of ESCO, automation system of Maybod Steel, automation of cooling tower at DMT company, automation of water supply for Saba expansion project of ESCO are among the turnkey projects implemented by this company which are other than the pre-set goals.
Organizational chart indicates the coordination system and different activities in the field of planning, technical, execution, finance, administration and projects management. FIECO. has 544 regular employees, 16 persons as part time. Most of the employees have B.S or high degree. They are members of some reputable organizations, associations, science and technology institutions or engineering companies and they have a close cooperation with foreign contractors in order to increase their technical skills.
Some of FIECO activities in power plant filed are:
- Design of 2 steam power plants with capacity of 55 mg W each, for ESCO Tavazon Project .
- Studies and Design for Auxiliary Services Section of expansion of ESCO up to 3.5 m.t.p.y (Tavazon Project).
- Environmental Studies for Iran Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution Management co (TAWANIR) projects.
