Iran Energy Association Necessity

Iran is one of the greatest fossil fuel reservoirs and is one of the significant exporters of petroleum and natural gas. Also Iran is one of the OPEC members with 100 years history in energy industry exploration, production and mining activities. Despite a long history of Iran's activities in the field of energy, the academic sector and the scientific community’s proportion was not as high as public sector because of monopole activities in this field. The role of academic and scientific communities in decision-making forums in Iran is so low in comparison to other countries. The energy decision-making bodies have less reliance to the scientific communities due to lack of active scientific energy communities formation. Thus enabling the powerful academic communities is considered a vital necessity for improving the advice process to decision-making bodies and becoming the intellectual arm for decision makers inside the country.

Iran Energy Association Establishment History

Activation of the Iran Energy Association with overall objectives in various fields of energy and creation of an academic center for teachers, researchers and energy experts had been started on 2003. Continually, the founding board of the Iran Energy Association had been held a general assembly on 09/04/2005 and in this date the statute of the association was approved. Registration of the association had been done at Iranian Non-Commercial Organizations Registration Office with registration number of 18232 and finally the Iran Energy Association (IEA) has been established with the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology on 13/06/2005.

· Develop and promote scientific advance in energy issues and qualitative development of specialists

· Improving educational issues and research programs in the fields of energy resources, planning and optimization of energy supply and demand, energy management and energy services, energy and environmental issues, energy economics, renewable energies, energy systems and ... .

· Implementing national and international scientific and cultural research with scientists and specialists which are so concerned with the energy field.

· Working with the executive agencies, academic and research institutes on evaluation, review and implementation of energy related education and research plans and programs.

· Encouraging researchers and honor outstanding of researchers and professors.

· Provide training, research and technical services in energy field.

· Organizing scientific conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops specialized in national, regional and international levels.
