The first general meeting of the persons interested in foundation of the Iranian society of crystallography and mineralogy was held in the amphitheatre of Science and Technology University of Iran in Nov. 1991. In that meeting, with attendance of the representative of the ministry of interior, the first voting for election of the board of directors was held and Dr. Seyed Fazlollah Anvari (from research institute of petrol industry), Dr. Mohammad Ali Barati (Tehran University), Dr. Nasser Tajabor (Ferdowsi University of Mashhad), Dr. Abbas Taeb (Science and Technology University of Iran) and Dr. Seyed Mahdi Alavi (Isfahan University) were selected. By defining the statute of the society, warrant No. A/42-2/180 was issued by the ministry of interior in 1992.
On the basis of prescription No. 3/3257 (June, 2001) of the ministry of sciences, researches and technology the Iranian scientific societies continues to strive under the commission of the scientific societies of Iran whose secretariat is located at the ministry of sciences, researches and technology, vice-president for research. Thus, the new election of the board of directors of the Iranian society of crystallography and mineralogy was held in Yazd University in Feb. 2003, and the board approved again the new statute confirmed by the ministry of sciences, researches and technology. The Iranian society of crystallography and mineralogy was registered in Sep. 2003 with No. 16932 and its statute was published in the official newspaper.
Since the foundation of the society, the election of the board of directors has held every three years.
